Gurgaon paper dealer shot, cops suspect rivalry
Aug 09, 2009
Gurgaon News: A 35-year
old newspaper dealer was shot dead by three unidentified
assailants in the wee hours of Saturday in Sikandarpur
near DLF phase-I. Professional rivalry could be the
reason behind the murder, police sources said. The
incidence took place around 3.30am when Rishipal had
come to supervise his employees at his office in
Sikandarpur.
The criminals, it seems, were waiting for Rishipal and
as soon as he stepped out of his car, they walked to him
and pumped five bullets into him, said a senior police
officer.
The staff called the
police who rushed Rishipal to nearby Neelkanth Hospital
where doctors declared him brought dead. A case has been
registered under section 302 (punishment for murder) of
IPC against three unidentified persons in DLF Phase-I
police station.
"We are investigating the case and are trying to trace
the killers. We hope to soon arrest the culprits," said
Sumit Kuhar, ACP, East Gurgaon.
Another police officer said the deceased, who belonged
to Samastipur, Bihar, had shifted to Gurgaon 12 years
ago and was staying in DLF phase-III with his family.
The victim's brother, Harpal, said Rishipal's success in
business also earned him many enemies. "When he first
came here, he did some odd jobs and earned only Rs 1500
per month. Later he got into the newspaper circulation
business and soon his business prospered and his
turnover ran into several crores. His rivals envied
him," said a distraught Harpal.
He added that Rishipal owned agencies of almost all
major newspapers and magazines and covered areas like
DLF City and Sushant Lok. He had recently started
distributing foreign magazines, added Harpal.
The body of the deceased was handed over to his family
after post mortem on Saturday.
