Plans to resolve traffic congestion were finalised at a
recent Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) meeting held under the
chairmanship of HUDA Administrator S P Gupta. The meeting was attended by
Rakesh Gupta, Deputy Commissioner, Gurgaon, Hanif Qureshi, SSP, Gurgaon
and other senior officials from the Municipal Committee and Estate Office.
At the meeting, it was proposed to set up four bus depots of five acres
each. A 20-acre inter-state bus terminal will also be set up at Panchgaon
in Gurgaon. Seventy two bus shelters will also be constructed.
Temporary parking sites near congested areas will also be set up. The
congested Jail Market near Sohna Chowk and near Aggarsain Chowk will be
shifted to another location immediately. The road to Sohna and to Mini
Secretariat from Rajiv Chowk will also be widened. The lighting on city
roads will also be improved immediately.
Many new roads will be constructed, including one from Sector 15 to Delhi,
and other roads will be widened.
Trees located in the middle of roads will be removed as they are posing a
hazard to traffic.
The congested auto markets in Kaman Sarai and other areas will be shifted
to one location in Sector 10.
An exclusive transport nagar, which will function as a parking bay for
buses, trucks and other vehicles, will also be set up. Food, water and
toilets will be available there.
Currently, HUDA has four authorised paid parking lots in Sector 29, Sector
14 and Sector 40. Paid parking lots exist in areas like DLF City, Ansals
and Sushant Lok but these are run by private parties.
