Gurgaon News: Auto major Suzuki Motor Corporation (SMC) and Suzuki Powertrain India Limited (SPIL) will invest over Rs 2500 crore till the year 2010 at its diesel engine plant in Manesar near Gurgaon.

(MUL) Chief General Manager, C K Dave, told reporters, while launching "Swift Diesel" in Madhya
Pradesh.
"Technology for this diesel engine was obtained by SMC through a tehnical licence agreement with Fiat and Adam Opel and the engine is being manufactured at SMC and MUL's diesel engine plant in Manesar near Gurgaon," he said.
The engine has a localisation level of 75.5 per cent ensuring among other things that the car is well-suited for Indian roads, Regional Manager (MP), Sukhendu Biswal said.
Swift was SMC's global car launched simultaneously across the world including India. The diesel engine is introduced in India within months of its launch in Europe, he added.
The car is powered by a state-of-the-art, 1.3 litre engine, which unlike other conventional diesel engines is more silent, clean, compact and powerful with a superior fuel efficiency, they claimed.
