Gurgaon News: The $13 billion Farmington-based Carrier Corporation is setting up its largest global engineering centre for air conditioners and commercial refrigeration in Gurgaon, to cater to India and the rest of the global market. The project, making India its global design hub, will come up in a year’s time, according to senior company officials. Currently, Carrier Corporation’s global engineering centres are based in the Philippines, Korea and Malaysia.

The new engineering centre will help the company design new varieties of high-end split air conditioners, window ACs, chillers, light commercial refrigeration and transport refrigeration, said Krishan Sachdev, director-marketing, product management & engineering, Carrier Airconditioning & Refrigeration Ltd, said. Carrier Airconditioning & Refrigeration is a 97% subsidiary of Carrier Corporation. The idea is to leverage India’s strength in engineering expertise, he added.
