With its extensive green cover and peaceful surroundings, the HUDA Park in Sector 14,Gurgaon offers a refreshing change from the tiring day to day life.
The gardens in the city not only lend a green cover to the city but also provide a peaceful ambience for those people who love their walks or jog out of the confines of a treadmill. Unlike the foreign countries where relatively new parks are developed and maintained like Battery Park in New York City or the Tuilleries in Paris, here we have a natural advantage of historical monuments. So many parks developed along old ruins give a mystical cover to the city. With Gurgaon on a fast track to becoming a hip and happening city, it is too developing parks for its fitness conscious residents. One such park is the HUDA Park
As you go onto MG Road towards Gurgaon, a little beyond the Rajeev Gandhi Chowk you will encounter the Huda Park of Sector 14 on your right. As you swing out of your car and enter the small gate, you realize that the expanse stretches out to a couple of acres. Plug on your earphones, switch on your disk and start your walk on the path which is these days ridden with fallen leaves and which stretches far ahead while you watch people sauntering on the rolling grass.
Keep walking down the tree lined brick covered path and soon one starts enjoying the walk. The greenery and the fresh breeze hits your face making you feel invigorated and alive. Soon the path turns and after about half hour you hit an area which looks like a little children’s park, complete with slides and swings, while another hillock and mound take you into another direction. Soon the tension in you evaporates making you feel refreshed and energised.
Though full of space, the old trees, and the walkways and greenery, it’s indeed in a sorry state of upkeep and maintenance, with a little corner along the furthest wall which acts as a dead end in the garden soon on its way to becoming a little heap of garbage from the strollers who come by. Another little footpath is so full of squirrels and rabbits let out in the open that it becomes a near impossibility to thread your way beyond the squirming squirrels. Of course the bottle brushes are blooming and the fragrant leaves are lovely. The gardeners there candidly narrate the tale of the absent contractors who head the maintenance charge and who rarely ever show up. If only the wilderness and inherent beauty of the park could be preserved would it be another beautiful garden for the residents to visit.
