: A 29-years-old executive of General Motors allegedly committed suicide on
Monday night by jumping off his 12-floor-apartment at DLF phase V, Gurgaon.
Police say martial discord may have driven the young automobile engineer from
Bangalore to take the extreme step.
It
was only 10-month age that Manju Nath Nayak had tied the knot with Rajeshwari,
but their marriage was already on the rock. On Monday night, Nayak’s wife
had even called up the DLF police around 8.30 pm after the couple fight.
Says
the station house in charge of DLF police station, Baljeet Singh: “We
received a call from the woman, asking us to help her sort out some issues,
and we reached within 10 minutes. We stayed there for a least two-hour. One of
Nayak’s friends was already present. He had also been called in by
Rajeshwari.” After a compromise was reached, the police left the house
around 10.30pm Nayak’s friends Ashish Satavati also left sometime later,
Rajeshwari asked Nayak to eat his dinner but he refused. He drank a glass of
milk and sat before his computer for some official work. Around 12.30pm, he
stepped out of the house and never returned.
The
security guard at the main gate first spotted Nayak’s body lying in a pool
of blood. He rushed upstairs to inform Nayak’s wife but she did not believe
him and refused to come down. The guard then called the police who identified
the body. A case of suicide has been registered.
