Members of FoRWA interacted with the HUDA administrator recently to discuss the problems of their areas which have escalated due to apathy of the authorities
After giving an ultimatum to the HUDA administration and threatening to take their grievances to the chief minister, the members of the Federation of Residents Welfare Association of Urban Estate (FoRWA) interacted with HUDA administrator S.P. Gupta at GAI house recently. The representatives from over 20 RWAs gathered to give a final chance to the administration.
"We have been given assurances several times. At every interaction or meeting with the administrator, decisions are taken and orders are issued to the officers to carry out the work. But we are yet to see any implementation. Action taken report should be given to the administrator by the officials. If we don’t see positive results after this interaction then we would take them to the chief minister," said M.L. Goyal, president Sector 4 and 7 RWA.
The residents accuse that the same agendas have been discussed at several meeting, but no improvement has taken place. Taking a serious note of matter, HUDA administrator S.P. Gupta has warned the officials for taking timely action and submitting an action taken report. He also warned the officials that any laxity on their part would not be tolerated.
Adding further he said, "We want the city to progress and our endeavour is to provide the best of the services and resolve problems faced by the residents." The problems included cleaning of vacant plots, over flowing sewage, absence and faulty sewage lines and encroachments in various sectors.
Over flowing sewage lines seemed to rule the meeting and residents from most of the sectors had the same problem. Gupta assured the residents and fixed a deadline for the concerned officials to resolve the problem. He said, "Most of the blocked sewers would be cleaned and cleared in two weeks time and wherever replacements are required estimates would be done and work would begin on war footing basis. Re-laying of the storm water drainage system would be complete for the entire city in next two years, including the areas which have partial or inadequate pipelines."
The residents and representatives seemed satisfied with the response and are hoping that this time the implementation will take place.
"The response has been positive. We hope that the things that he has asked his officials to do will be implemented. The works that he has directed should be completed in the fixed time limit and we are also hoping that officials follow their deadline and submit the action taken report to the administrator. He has also assured us for a follow up meeting soon, if this time the administration fails to deliver then we would take up the matter seriously with the chief minister," said FoRWA chairman Dharam Sagar.
