Trumpet loop decision by Feb 15
|

NHAI
on Thursday said it would take a decision on the
trumpet-shaped loop at Kapashera on the Delhi-Gurgaon Road by
February 15.R
P Indoria chief general manager, NHAI, said. |

“An
empowered committee was formed by DDA vice chairman on January
31 to decide the fate of the loop at Kapashera. The committee
will take a decision by February 15.”
An
empowered committee was formed on January 31 to decide the
nature of the trumpet that has to be formed, after which work
will commence on the project.
The
Kapashera trumpet interchange originally came up when DDA
approached NHAI for a signal-free access to Dwarka form its
Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway that it’s own plans envisage for
the sub-city. And though the AAI had originally shot down the
proposal, later, plans for a suppressed underpass were drawn
up by the agencies and the L-G. But a few months later, a
report by the CRRI had clearly stated that the design of the
interchange was “likely to result in serious accidents”.
The
clash between the reports submitted by CRRI and NHAI gave rise
to confusion, wherein the latter’s report stated, “The
sharp bend… is likely to result in serious accidents. It
further said that traffic from Delhi Airport and Radission
hotel side; turning towards Dwarka would have to go through a
“very narrow carriageway”.
As
an alternative, it proposed another design, with a longer
trajectory. However, on December 16, NHAI submitted a revised
report after considering the CRRI report and it was decided
that whichever report is suitable, will be accepted.
